Think of your earliest memory. What do you see? A loving smile? A hug? A favorite toy? A favorite place? What emotions does this instill in you? What does a color, an image, a song, a smell invoke? What do these things do to you? Do they drive you to go after your passion? Maybe they spark fear, make you shudder and remember an embarrassing time. Perhaps they even make you tear up a bit, or feel something twist in your stomach. When was the last time a brand made you feel this?
Perhaps that is what draws me to brands and branding so much. In these days, it’s not just enough to have a flashy ad that sells a product. People are too connected and have too many resources to seek you out. What sells now is your ability to connect by telling a compelling story. A finely crafted message on all angles, that creates a culture, and connects with your audience on a personal level.
It is here, that I will aim to talk about brands, what works, what doesn’t. In addition, I will also present my own personal case studies of existing brands for review. Through this, I hope to learn, explore, and tell my only story. Welcome to Verdant & Co.
